π After being closed for three months, Enodia Station is set to re-open. Early in the morning, vehicles arrive at Colchester and Ferrisburgh to pick up the new and returning residents. Fortunately, nothing eventful happens during the trip through the Riftlands.

Now that everyone is settling in, the Recreation Center is preparing to re-launch its plethora of instructional classes, hobby clubs, cultural groups, and other activities! See what's available or, if you have the skill and the inclination, sign up to run an activity.
The cafΓ© in the Recreation Center has been instructed to give free coffee to anyone running an activity for the next month. A perk for giving back to your community!

In nearby Burlington, the first of the Undying Asphodels have started to bloom. Those that wish to visit the abandoned city before the air is filled with the plant's vicious pollen will want to do so soon. Later in the season, doing so will require a hazmat suit and quite a bit more nerve.
π₯ Today is the Explorer Division's Leadership Evaluation! So get ready!
While in the Riftlands, the division is often divided into units to cover more ground or focus on different missions. While the division itself is always under the leadership of the director (Samuel J. Thornton), each unit needs a field leader and these positions change frequently on the basis of merit. These positions are decided by a three-part assessment that is performed every few months. All members of the Explorer Division, both primary and supplementary, are encouraged to participate. Those from other divisions are also welcome to participate...though they may find themselves being doggedly recruited by Thornton if they do so.
The examination includes combat practice, an obstacle course, and a written strategic/leadership assessment. To the chagrin of many, yes, the written section is required.

β The Crystal Cavern During the Explorer Division's first return to the Riftlands, they discover an unusual cave filled with glowing crystal that hadn't been there before. That day and the following day are spent exploring the caves to learn what they can. The cavern initially seems unwilling to give up its secrets...but when it does, it hits a bit closer to home than anyone expected.

The Undying Asphodels are fully in bloom now and the ruins of Burlington are filled with a mist of pollen and seedlings that will root in anything and everything. Anyone that travels to the area now must do so in head-to-toe protective gear and with permission from a director. They will also go through additional decontamination protocols upon returning to the Station.
As always, the Liminal flowers do not go beyond the city limits and any pollen and seedlings collected beyond the city limit will not take root. It's as peculiar as ever.

There's a lot to do in the aftermath of what the directors are simply calling the Mole Incident.
Engineers in Security and Operations are working to extend the Station's forcefield without wreaking havoc on the subterranean ecosystem. Nothing will be getting in from below again! ...Soon. Hopefully. Members of Operations that keep up the grounds have also been tasked with filling in the massive hole and breaking up/removing the stone and crystals created by the mother mole. That exhausting work is currently underway.
Medical has been tending to the injuries and potential infections of the residents (good news: no rabies!) while Research has been observing and collecting samples from the Liminal moles that are now taking up much of the available containment space. Director Magdy has been murmuring about his intentions to implement TNR (TrapβNeuterβReturn) for the remaining moles, though he's been getting some pushback about this from other directors. The fate of the moles is still being determined.
This evening, the Explorers are notified by Director Thornton that some of them will be returning to the tunnels to capture the remaining moles and further analyze the tunnels. Currently, there are four captured (including the mother), two dead, and three unaccounted for. This effort will be lead by Taby McLeod, assisted by resident mole expert(?) Rhodes Callaway, who reached out to him at the opportune moment. He appreciates your diligence! This will occur early next week.

π₯ In the early hours of the morning, almost everyone in the Station is awoken by the sound of howling wind. Looking out the windows, they'll quickly realize that this is no ordinary storm. The sky outside resembles a swirling aurora borealis, chaotic bolts of energy leap through the air with unpredictable ferocity, and the Station's electricity (including several backup generators) has gone out. Strangely, some residents claim to hear a subtle whistling melody somewhere in that gale.
Unfortunately, there's nothing to do but hunker down and wait it out! Residents are strongly urged to move to the lowest floor of the Residential Building and settle in. Throughout the night, the power flickers and struggles to return to life, but never stays on. There's only the eerie glow of the light outside.
The storm passes by early afternoon and (apart from some mild damage) all seems well. But what was it...?

Every member of the Research Division receives a letter from a teenager in nearby Colchester, eagerly requesting an internship! Her name is Ernestine Waters she is very keen to impress every single one of them. Each letter has unique questions about the researcher's area of study and expertise and attempts to show how knowledgeable she is on a related topic. It's kind of impressive. But kind of a lot.
What are they even supposed to do with these? And how did she get their information?

π₯ A party of esoteric purpose at the Recreation Center. Open to all. If Crysta asked you a random question, it was for this reason. (Annie's engagement party.)

Director Magdy officially announces that the Liminal moles currently being housed in the Research Building will be relocated to a Liminal animal sanctuary by the end of the week. This will begin with two of the pups (as one pup will remain at the Station temporarily to test whether or not separation impacts the synchronized genetic change previously identified by Dr. Isaiah St. Germaine) and the mother. He hopes that the other Liminal moles (including the remaining pups and the father) can eventually be relocated as well to reunite the colony.
He assures everyone that this isn't a decision he's made lightly. However, the size of the moles almost guarantees that they'll eventually overburden their ecosystem and that they could easily reach the surrounding towns and do unthinkiable damage. And that cannot be allowed to happen.
He also requests that the Research Division deliver a decision to him today about which mole pup should remain at Enodia Station. How they make this determination is up to them.

Dr. Colin Jorgensborg, an employee from another IRIS Station and a former employee of Enodia Station, arrives to help relocate all but one of the giant moles.
A Liminal with the ability to alter the size of both living and non-living things, he will be shrinking the moles down to ensure their safe transport to a Liminal animal sanctuary. To ensure that his powers work on them and that he can hold them in their reduced state for an adequate period of time, he'll be doing a trial run before leaving the Station with them. For this reason, he'll be remaining at the Station for a few days.
What day he departs will depend entirely on how successful his efforts are and how warm his welcome is. Maybe he'll even stay for that Pride Night he's hearing so much about...

π₯ It's time for Ernestine Waters to visit Enodia Station for a guided tour and internship interview! The girl arrives bright and early in an IRIS transport vehicle and is full of enthusiasm. She will see an approved list of locations and be accompanied by an approved list of staff members, but may meet others along the way. Have fun!
Happy 4th of July! Many (but not all) residents have the day off and all of the shops are closed. There will be a casual rooftop cookout at the Residential Building and fireworks in the evening to celebrate. Nothing crazy!
β Lost & Found After Mrs. Waters is pushed into revoking permission for her daughter to start an internship at Enodia Station, Ernestine makes some questionable decisions and goes missing. After being contacted by the local authorities, the residents of the Station set out to help find her and things get complicated quickly.

π Today is the twenty year anniversary since the appearance of the rifts. Been a wild ride, huh?
A honeydew in the community garden has gone Liminal! The stems and tendrils of the plant have developed nasty little thorns and its four melons (now ripe) have taken to floating in the air overnight. Once reported, the plants will be removed for analysis by the Research and Medical Divisions to determine if they're safe to keep around, let alone eat. But who knows how quickly they'll be reported...
In the early hours of the morning, some residents of the Station are awoken by the sound of howling wind...which is quickly joined by rain, lightning, thunder. Just a normal storm. Nothing to see here. Go back to bed!
β The Perschky Vine An invasive Riftlands plant species has been tracked into the Research Building, growing overnight and causing chaos with its pollen. This is why we disinfect!

Director Thornton announces that the next Leadership Evaluation for the Explorer Division will be held on August 8th. He urges everyone to prepare themselves mentally and physically. Just as he's giving them a pep talk about their potential...he gets a phone call. The man looks startled and deeply sheepish, but steps away to take it.
A few minutes pass before he returns and he never quite rediscovers the rhythm of his speech. That's all. Dismissed!

π₯ An elderly couple living a mile or so outside of Bolton, a small town to the east, has contacted IRIS to report hearing strange sounds and (more unsettlingly) feeling tremors on the outskirts of their property. Given the location of their home and the trajectory of the recently discovered mole hole, Director Thornton suspects he may know what's about to happen... so he expedites his timeline and assembles the Explorers for a mission!
One group will be stationed at the couple's property to protect the couple, while the others will head in and explore the hole. Everyone's top priority: protect the locals and capture those darn moles!
