DIVISIONS
DIVISIONS
Everyone at the Station has a job to do and those jobs are divided into different divisions. Each character must be assigned to at least one division, but may be assigned to two if it better suits their concept. For example, an Explorer may assist with station repairs in their downtime and so also be in Operations or a doctor in the Medical Division may also participate in Liminal physiology research because of their expertise and so also be in Research. Do whatever makes the most sense for your character! The first role listed in a character's application will be considered their primary role.
Each division is under a director that evaluates performance and determines the overall aims of the division. All of the directors are non-playable characters. Beneath the directors, each division has a unique hierarchy of positions.
MEDICAL DIVISION | OPERATIONS DIVISION

Explorers make expeditions out into the Riftlands to identify changes in the environment, collect samples, and otherwise take on the risk of braving the great unknown. Typically, these characters have offensive or defensive abilities to help them survive dangerous encounters or situations.

When exploring the Riftlands, they are divided into units which change from mission to mission. Unit Leaders are assigned by the director based on frequent assessments and evaluations; these assessments will be based on game events that players can participate in.

✦SECURITY DIVISION
Security protects the Station from external and internal threats. They maintain the security systems, safeguard networks and data, keep off limits areas off limits, break up conflicts between residents, enforce the laws of the Station, and defend the Station in the event that something dangerous gets through the forcefield. Characters involved in the physical aspects of security often have offensive or defensive abilities to help them overcome or control threats. Characters involved in the technological aspects of security may or may not have abilities connected to their position, but if they do not, they should have a level of education or expertise appropriate to their role.
Jobs in the Security Division include things like perimeter guard, security guard, officer, cyber security, or security specialist.

✦RESEARCH DIVISION
Researchers conduct research on anomalies connected to the rifts. They often direct the Explorers in where to go and what to look for when they’re out in the Riftlands. On rare occasions, they may even accompany them into the field, though only when their expertise is direly needed. The abilities of these characters may or may not be tied to their position, but if they are not, they should have a level of education or expertise appropriate to their role.
Jobs in the Research Division include research scientists from all variety of disciplines (chemist, microbiologist, etc.), research technician, analyst, and laboratory assistant. Researchers that are able to make a particularly compelling pitch to the director may be placed in charge of their own laboratory and be able to pursue a project of their choice; these pitches will occur during game events that players can participate in. Otherwise, where time and resources are spent is up to the director.

Operations keeps the Station running and they have a wide variety of roles. Everything from food production and preparation, ordering and organizing supplies, maintaining electrical systems and machines, cleaning, and more is handled by this group. The abilities of these characters may or may not be tied to their position. Whether or not they have any education or expertise depends on the type of position they hold.
Jobs in the Operations Division can be...essentially anything! This division covers all positions that do not fit into the others and makes up the largest of all the divisions.
