✦THE STATION
The Enodia Research Station is located along the edge of a dense Riftland forest and just south of the former-metropolis of Burlington, which was rapidly and unexpectedly overrun by Liminal plants six years ago. While the plants have not spread beyond the city limits, it remains abandoned and has become a hotspot for anomalies.
The Station is a collection of seven buildings under a protective, dome-like forcefield. There is a research building, a medical building, an administration building, a commercial center full of shops and supplies, a recreation center with community spaces, a residential building, and a training building that’s set apart from the others in case anyone’s powers take a turn for the destructive. The forcefield is several miles in diameter, allowing for an ample amount of greenery and usable outdoor space beyond the cluster of work and living spaces. Apart from the buildings under the dome, there is a large garden, an orchard, and a man-made lake that must be manually monitored and refilled on occasion. An underground parking garage was also built beneath the commercial center; this is where Station-owned transport and exploration vehicles are stored.
A key card is required to enter the Station.
A more thorough breakdown of the Station can be found here.

✦THE RIFTLANDS
The Station rests on the edge of an expansive and ever-changing Riftland forest that covers the more than twenty miles between Burlington and Mount Mansfield. This forest is dense and filled with bizarre Liminal flora that give it a distinctly unnatural air. Immense trees with spiraling silver bark and crystalline leaves, pulsating vines that reach and lunge seemingly with a mind of their own, and all other manner of strange things can be found in the forest. It’s also filled to the brim with Liminal creatures of all shapes and sizes. It’s a beautiful but dangerous place that holds many secrets and needs to be thoroughly explored.
Last year, one of the agents assigned to explore these Riftlands claimed to have found a rift like the ones in the sky carved deep into the earth. While they marked the location of this rift on a map, nobody else was able to locate it and the claim was soon dismissed. After all, such a thing has never been recorded before and there was no evidence to be found. The agent was subsequently sent to a less demanding Station.

✦BURLINGTON
The remains of Burlington are just three miles from the Station. Once a bustling college town known for its flourishing arts scene and educational opportunities, it now stands abandoned and overgrown with Liminal plant life. Tangles of black vines with vibrant flowers crawl up and wrap around the buildings and break through the pavement. In the late spring and early summer, the pollen from these flowers fills the air like mist, giving the town an ominous atmosphere and making the streets dangerous to explore. The plants are as happy to take root inside a human body as they are anywhere else.
Fortunately, these plants (appropriately dubbed Undying Asphodels) have not spread beyond Burlington. Unfortunately, attempts to remove them have never had lasting success and they always seem to come back. Still, the Station continues to try.
This destructive infestation first appeared in Burlington six years ago, leading to chaos, a number of casualties, and a swift evacuation by IRIS. While it is not the only lost city in the area, as many other small towns within the Riftlands became inhospitable to residents, it is the most significant and the most well-known because of how quickly it happened and how unnerving the circumstances were.

✦THE OUTSIDE
Because many of the nearby towns have been evacuated as the Riftlands spread and overtook them, the Station is fairly isolated, surrounded by woods and ghost towns. The nearest city of significant size is Albany, which is about three hours away by car. Beyond that, the nearest towns are Colchester to the north and Ferrisburgh to the south, both of which can be reached within an hour by car as long as one doesn't encounter any difficulties driving through the Riftlands. The residents of Colchester in particular have become quite accustomed to the presence of the Station and many credit them with keeping their town and nearby Lake Champlain free of ‘all that crazy stuff’. Keep up the good work!
Residents of the Station may travel to nearby areas at their discretion. Personal vehicles may be parked in the underground parking garage (though there is a fee and waiver must be signed – IRIS cannot be held responsible for any Liminal creature encounters that might scratch your paint!), but residents may also request transportation to and from nearby towns with a day’s notice. Supplies are also picked up from these locations on a regular basis.
